Earth Day & Life Cycles

We had a blast celebrating Earth Day. We watched the Lorax and then made our way outside to write about what we would do if we were the Lorax. The kids had a great time writing outdoors, and spreading out in the grass.

We also talked about the three R's. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!
We practiced our reusing skills and created something new out of a piece of foil.

We also began talking about the life cycles of plants and flowers. We found out what happens when we plant three lima beans in soil. Our lima bean plant is growing really well by our window!
We also planted some flower seeds to compare and contrast a plant and a flower.
For each child's own hands-on experience, they all decorated a plastic cup and planted grass seeds inside. We are now growing our Grass Head Boys and Grass Head Girls by our window as well.
They have grown so fast, and even had their first 'haircuts'!
As we look ahead in science, we will be learning about animal and insect life cycles. Thanks to Alex and her wonderful family we get to experience the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly in our classroom!

I can't believe how fast the year is flying! Lots more fun to be head in the last month of school!
