Strong Readers Ask Questions...

This week we have been talking about keeping our brains busy during reading and asking questions! We talked about how our brains are really ALWAYS asking questions while reading, we just didn't notice that we were doing it. We also discussed how asking questions then leads to making predictions. Wow! What great conversations. The kids blew me away at being able to recognize when they had a question pop up in their brains.

We practiced this by reading Too Many Pumpkins yesterday, and then by reading Pumpkin Soup today...

After my mini-lesson the kids went to read independently at their Book Nooks and took a sticky note with them. They cut their sticky notes up and jotted down a question mark on their notes and stuck it in a spot where they noticed their brain asking a question. The results were great!

Great work friends! Tomorrow I'll be back to share how we have been spreading kindness through the building and the kids are SO into it. :)
