End of the Year Fun!

Wow! Can y'all believe that first grade is almost over? As a teacher this is a very bittersweet time of the year. I am sad to see my sweet firsties go, but so proud and happy when I think about how much we have grown together! We have had a blast the last couple of weeks. A huge thanks to the moms that came our to help with our "field day" last Friday. We also enjoyed our books and beach towels yesterday. I'm so thankful to have this site to always be able to look back at the fun we had together. I will miss each and every one of my kiddos so much! Here are some photos from our recent adventures. Enjoy!

Earth Day & Life Cycles

We had a blast celebrating Earth Day. We watched the Lorax and then made our way outside to write about what we would do if we were the Lorax. The kids had a great time writing outdoors, and spreading out in the grass.

We also talked about the three R's. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!
We practiced our reusing skills and created something new out of a piece of foil.

We also began talking about the life cycles of plants and flowers. We found out what happens when we plant three lima beans in soil. Our lima bean plant is growing really well by our window!
We also planted some flower seeds to compare and contrast a plant and a flower.
For each child's own hands-on experience, they all decorated a plastic cup and planted grass seeds inside. We are now growing our Grass Head Boys and Grass Head Girls by our window as well.
They have grown so fast, and even had their first 'haircuts'!
As we look ahead in science, we will be learning about animal and insect life cycles. Thanks to Alex and her wonderful family we get to experience the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly in our classroom!

I can't believe how fast the year is flying! Lots more fun to be head in the last month of school!
