P-6 Farms!

We had SO MUCH FUN at P-6 farms at the beginning of the month! The kids were elated to be there and every activity was a blast for them. They were wiped out on the way back and many fell asleep on the bus! I tried to take as many pictures as I could for the parents who could not be there. Enjoy!

Non-Fiction Writing!

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated the publishing of our non-fiction research books. The kids were given a list of about ten animals to choose from for their research. After they chose their animal we jumped into research. We had many mini-lessons on how to research and take notes for a specific purpose. We took one day a week to research a section for their books. So one day we would research on habitat, the next day we would research on life cycle, the next day we researched the diet, and so on. They did SO WELL! I really was so incredibly proud of their ability to utilize the resources provided and take notes independently. We used PebbleGo for all of our research, it is such a fantastic site for all things non-fiction! 

I was able to capture lots of photos during the research period as well as the publishing period. It was also fantastic seeing them transfer their notes into readable chapter pages. I hope you had a chance to read through your child's work that came home. They were so incredibly proud of themselves!
